  • CyberSecurity Awareness In Higher Institutions In compliance with ISO27001

Security breaches are ever on the increase a year-on-year basis as predicted by many researchers. Hackers have not only multiplied themselves, they comb everywhere using both sophisticated and non-sophisticated means of getting as much information as can be gleaned. These include social engineering, scavenging, dumpster diving, phishing, brute force, warchalking, war dialing, among others. Unfortunately, awareness among users of computer systems is rather low thus, making organizations to fall prey to hackers. Learning Institution is not immune. This is largely due to inappropriate document management process. With automation of processes the focus is almost unidirectional unlike in learning institutions in developing countries where document management is mostly based-based. A survey carried out revealed that only 28.1% of the population was observed to have good understanding of
document management and 71.9% did not have adequate knowledge. It underscores the need for document management in institutions of learning in developing countries.
